Administrator's Guide

SOS Collab administration is managed through the Server Manager and through Admin or Project Admin functions in the Windows Client or the Web Client. The Server Manager is used to configure the SOS Collab Servers. SOS Collab Projects are set up and configured using either the Windows or Web Client.

Admin Types

There are three types of administrators in SourceOffSite Collaborative Edition:

SOS Collab Admin
This is the Admin account which is created during the SOS Collab Servers installation. The Admin account has read/write/administer access rights to all data and all functions within the system. It is also referred to as the System Admin.

Admin Group
The SOS Collab Admin can add other users to the Admin group. Users in the Admin group have the same rights as the Admin account, however they do not have default read/write access to projects. A user in the Admin group must also be assigned to a project in order to be able to see and act on that project. Because they have administer rights, users in the Admin group can assign themselves to one or more projects.

The SOS Collab Admin and users in the Admin group access system configuration through the Admin section of the Server Home page in the Web Client and through the Admin> System Admin node of the Project Tree in the Windows Client. They can also access project configuration through the Project Admin link on a project page of the Web Client or through the Windows Client in the Admin>Projects node of the Project Tree.

Project Admin
A Project Admin is a user who is granted admin rights to a particular project. A Project Admin has access rights to all data and functions within that project. A default Project Admin group is created when a project is created. The Admin account or a user in the Admin group can add users to a project-level Admin group. Also, any user of a project can be given project admin access through the use of access control lists (ACLs).

A Project Admin can configure information specific to their project such as Categories, Milestones, Groups, Source Code Projects, and Security Settings. A Project Admin cannot add or modify system users or create projects.

Project Admins access their project information through the Web Client from the Project Admin link on their project page, or through the Windows Client in the Admin>Projects node of the Project Tree.
