The File List in SOS Collab Client displays a listing of the current state of the SourceSafe database as communicated by the SOS Collab System. It is possible that this list may become outdated as changes happen in the database. It may be necessary to refresh this view to ensure that information displayed is up to date. The Refresh File List command will refresh the view of the file list in the current directory.
If the VSS Performance Cache is enabled in the SOS Collab Server Manager, the file list information will be taken from the server cache. If the Performance Cache is not enabled, then the SOS Collab server will get information about the state of the files from the VSS database.
The SOS Collab Client communicates with the SOS Collab System for file list information on two occasions:
Any subsequent time that directory is clicked in that session, the file list information will be taken from a cached file on the client machine named <databaseX>.sos.
After the SOS Collab Source Code Control window is exited and restarted, a new session begins and the process of communicating with the SOS Collab System for the file list of each newly clicked directory begins again.
To refresh the file list on an open project, click the Refresh File List button or choose the Refresh File List command from the View menu.
It is possible to configure SOS Collab to perform a Refresh File List automatically under Tools->Options->SCC Settings. This capability is similar to SourceSafe. However, because SOS Collab is often used over slow connections using PPP and a modem, the default setting for the automatic refresh feature is OFF.
(Please Note: The Refresh File List command is not recursive.)
