Client WindowThe SourceOffSite Client software can be installed on any machine the user would like to access the SourceSafe database.
The Client software is available for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/2003/XP, Linux and Solaris (SPARC). Client software is also available for Solaris (x86) platform.
Please note: The SourceOffSite GUI interface of the Unix Client is very similar to that of the Windows Client. Therefore, most of the instructions that follow for the Windows Client apply to the Unix Client.
The first time the SourceOffSite Client is run, it will retrieve a complete copy of the hierarchy of the SourceSafe database. This process may take a few minutes over a dial-up line. Thereafter, the hierarchy of the database is cached locally and can be updated as needed when projects change.
