SOS Collab Licensing

For details on configuring serial numbers, see Administration > Server Manager > Serial Numbers.

General License Information

SOS Collab is licensed on a per user basis (not by concurrent users). If you have three people who use SOS Collab, you need to purchase three licenses: one license for each of those three people. Each licensed user will have a Client License. The SOS Collab Server will limit the number of licensed users by class to the number of licenses purchased.

There are two classes of Client Licenses:

Full Client License (Windows)
The Full Client License allows the user access to SOS Collab features from either the Windows Client or the Web Client. Users with a Full Client License can access Source Code Control, Chat, Bug Tracking, Discussion and Admin functions through the Windows Client. They can also login to SOS Collab via the Web Client to access Bug Tracking, Discussion and Admin functions.

Web-Only Client License (Browser)
The Web-Only Client License allows the user access to certain SOS Collab features from the Web Client only. Users with a Web-Only Client License can login to SOS Collab using a web browser, but not with the SOS Collab Windows Client

By default, the Web-Only Client Access License gives the user access to:

The Web-Only Client License does not provide access to Source Code Control, Chat or real-time notifications in the Notification Bar. These features are available only in the Windows Client.

In order to activate SOS Collab for operation, you must configure one or more serial numbers on the server-side. These serial numbers are used to tell the SOS Collab Server how many Client licenses you have purchased. For evaluation licenses, the serial number is dynamically generated.

After the serial numbers are configured, SOS Collab displays the number of licenses available and the class of the license. A Full Client License is counted as one Windows and one Web License. The Web-Only license is counted as one Web License.

Please see the SOS Collab license agreement for more details about SOS Collab licensing.
