SourceGear Vault Professional is a cross-platform version control and work item tracking solution for small and medium-sized teams. The version control features are based on the mature technology from SourceGear Vault which has been continually improved since its initial release in February 2003. Vault was also designed to be a replacement for Visual SourceSafe, providing new features and improved functionality along with a familiar interface.
The Vault Professional Client installer installs the following Client components:
A Windows .NET client that connects to the Vault Professional; Server and allows users to locally manage files under source control in a windowed application.
A tool that allows you to output the contents and history of a selected Vault folder to a local file. That file can then be used to import the folder contents and history to a different Vault repository or server.
The Vault Professional Folder ExportImport Tool is called VaultFolderExportImport.exe and is in the Vault Professional directory. Documentation is available in the ExportImport.chm file in the Vault Professional Client directory.
A command line client that supports many of the commands the GUI client supports, allowing the user to connect to the Vault Professional Server via scripts or without user intervention. This client still requires the .Net framework in order to run.
The Command Line Client is called Vault.exe and is in the Vault Professional Client directory. For documentation, cd to the Vault Professional Client directory via the command line and type "vault help" or "vault helphtml (for help in an HTML format).
Allows Vault Professional to be the source control provider in Visual Studio 2005 and later Visual Studio versions.
Allows Vault Professional to be the source control provider in Visual Basic 6 and Visual C++. Classic Client integration is also available in Visual Studio 2005 and later Visual Studio versions.
