Notification Options

Notifications appear in the Notifications tab of the Vault Standard GUI Client and in the Notifications Pane in Visual Studio Enhanced Client integration.

Notification options are configured in the Vault Standard Client under Tools->Options->Notifications. Notifications can also be configured from Visual Studio under Tools->Options->Source Control -> Vault Standard ->Advanced Options->Notifications.

You can choose to receive notifications in the Vault Standard Client or in Visual Studio. You can also subscribe to email notifications, or you can choose both methods of notification. You can also choose not to receive any notifications by not enabling Email or Application Notifications.

Note

If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Vault, your email notification settings will be preserved. You will continue to get email notifications of events as configured in the previous version.

Enable Email Notifications

Click the checkbox to Enable Email Notifications.

Email Address

Enter the email address which will receive Vault Standard notifications. You may select one or both of the following options:

  • Receive Email notifications as a daily digest

  • Receive HTML Email notifications

Enable Application Notifications

Click the checkbox to activate notifications within the Vault Standard Client application. Use the numeric text boxes to configure these notification options:

  1. Refresh every X minutes. This is the frequency at which notifications will be refreshed. The default is 5 minutes

  2. Display Limit. This is the number of rows/items which will appear in the Notifications tab. The default is 250.

Suppress Self-Generated Notifications

Click the checkbox if you do not wish to be notified of your own updates.

Source Code Control

Note: To enable notifications for a repository, you must first log into that repository.

Get Notifications for Modifications in a Repository Path:

In the Watched Repository Paths tab, Add or Delete the repository path you wish to "watch" or "unwatch." To add a path, click the Add button, then browse to the repository folder or file you wish to watch. To delete a watched path, select the path or paths, and click Delete. You will receive notifications when source code modifications occur in that path. Notifications are not sent for actions that do not modify code, such as login, checkout, etc.

Get Notifications for Selected Events in All Repositories:

Click the checkboxes in the Source Code Control Events tab to activate notifications for specific Vault Standard Source Code Events, such as Add, Branch, Checkout, etc. Click Check All to select all available Source Code Events. You will receive notifications for the selected events in all repositories that you have access to.

Note that Watched Repository Paths and Source Control Events are independent functions. Source Control Events is not a filter for Watched Repository Paths. If you "watch" a repository path, you will receive notifications for all source control events in that path, not just the selections in the Source Control Events tab. And, if you have source control events checked in the Source Control Events tab, you will receive notifications whether or not you have a Watched Path configured.
