The Deactivate License dialog box allows you to deactivate some or all of the licenses. This can be done either automatically, by connecting to SourceGear’s activation server, or manually, by sending an email to SourceGear’s sales department for processing.
When Auto-Deactivate is clicked, Vault will send all the active permanent licenses that were not selected in the serial number list to the License Activation Server.
A new license key is made from those serial numbers. If there are no serial numbers left on this server (for example, you may want to entirely move your installation and license to another server), a license key is still generated and sent back but it will contain no serial numbers. You cannot use the new installation until you obtain another permanent serial number.
To manually deactivate a license, click the link in the text to generate an email with the request automatically filled in. The email will be sent to SourceGear Sales Department which will generate a license key and return it via email.
Once the new activation key, click Import Deactivation Key and copy the license key into the dialog box. The serial numbers that were deactivated can be used on a different server and activated there.
