Logging On to SOS Collab Source Code Control
To access a Visual SourceSafe database, log on to the SOS Collab Windows Client. Then select the appropriate SOS Collab project to the far left in the Project Tree.
(Please Note: In SOS Collab, "SOS Collab project" refers to a particular software development project or collaboration. When referring to a "project" under source code control, however, the term refers to a specific directory that contains source code.)
The First Time You Log in
Expand the project to see the Source Code Control icon(s) under the SOS Collab project heading in the Project Tree. These represent the source code control repositories associated with that project. Click on the desired repository icon to open the source code control window and toolbar. The first time you access the Source Code Control Project, you will be prompted to log in. Use your VSS username and password.
After the First Login
You will not have to log on again to a VSS database after the first time. The SOS Collab Access Control List (ACL) authenticates that the user has access to a particular repository.
The first time that SOS Collab Source Code Control is run in a session, it will retrieve a complete copy of the hierarchy of the SourceSafe database. This process may take several minutes over a dial-up line. Thereafter, the hierarchy of the database is cached locally and can be updated as needed when projects change.
Select the option Clear VSS User Associations from the Tools Menu if you wish to clear the association between your SOS Collab username and the VSS username for the repository. This will allow you to log into the repository with a different VSS username.
