Email Preferences

SOS Collab can send email messages to users when a bug is added or modified or when a new discussion message has been posted. Users can set their email notification preferences for each project to which they have access.

Setting Email Messaging Preferences

Through either the Windows or the Web Client, you can set your email notification preferences for each project to which you have access.

Accessing User Preferences

From the Windows Client
In the Project Tree, expand the tree of the project for which you want to set your preferences. Select Project Preferences under that particular project to open the Preferences page.

From the Web Client
From the Server Home page, open any Project for which you want to set your preferences. Selecting Preferences from the SOS Collab navigation bar opens the Preferences page.

Configuring User Preferences

The Preferences page has two parts: Global Preferences and <Project> Preferences.

Global Preferences

Send email on all bugs assigned to you
You can choose to receive or not receive email on activity regarding all bugs (across all SOS Collab projects) that are assigned to you. Check this option if you want to receive email or clear the checkbox if you do not. Then, click Change.

Send email notifications in HTML
You can choose to receive email in HTML format or in plain text format. Check this option if you wish to receive email formatted in HTML or clear the checkbox if you do not. Then, click Change.

<Project> Preferences
You can also choose to receive email on project-specific activities such as discussion messages and bugs.

Project Discussion Email
Select Subscribe to receive Discussion messages via email for that project. To stop receiving Discussion messages via email for that project, select Unsubscribe.

Project Bug Email
Select Subscribe to receive an email message when a bug is added or modified for a project. To stop receiving these email messages, select Unsubscribe.

From -- Denotes the SMTP "From" email address configured in the SOS Collab Server Manager.
Date -- Lists the date and time the email was sent from the Primary Server.
To -- Shows the email address of the user from the system Users list.
Subject -- Iidentifies the message as coming from the SOS Collab system, then the Project Name and Bug ID is listed followed by the bug description.
Message Body -- Contains a hyperlink to the bug and a complete description of the bug and that it was added or modified.

You can click on the hyperlink to open that specific bug.

If you're currently logged on to the SOS Collab Web Client, your browser will open to that specific bug page.

If you're not logged on to the SOS Collab Web Client, a browser window will open the SOS Collab Web Client. You will need to log on, and then that specific bug page will open.

Project Discussion Email Format

From -- Denotes the email address of the user posting the discussion message.
Date -- Llists the date and time the email was sent from the Primary Server.
To -- Shows the email address of the user from the system Users list
Subject -- [SOS <Projectname>] identifies the email as coming from the SOS Collab system, and shows the subject or topic of the discussion message is listed.
Message Body -- Contains a hyperlink to the discussion message and the complete text of the message.

You can click on the hyperlink to open that discussion message.

If you're currently logged on to the SOS Collab Web Client, your browser will open to that specific message page.

If you're not logged on to the SOS Collab Web Client, a browser window will open the SOS Collab Web Client. You will need to log on, and then that specific message page will open.
