Virus Checking Software and SOS Collab

If the machine where the SourceOffSite Collab servers are located is running an intrusive virus protection application, performance may be significantly impacted.

Certain virus protection programs check every file read/write, and since SourceOffSite Collab is designed to do a number of these (in order to take the burden off the client machine), this would result in operations slowing down considerably. Also, SourceOffSite Collab communicates with VSS via the VSS COM objects and some real-time virus checks bottleneck COM I/O in some way.

Therefore, to substantially increase performance, disable any virus checks on either the SourceOffSite Collab directory itself or the VSS data directory. This will enable SourceOffSite Collab and VSS to perform file I/O quickly. Also disable any "real-time" virus checking. This will allow the VSS COM component to perform I/O without being hindered.
